Elna Ellis is the Clinical Lead for Endocrinology at Alice Springs Hospital and Chair of the NT Diabetes Clinical Network. She has worked in South Africa, New-Zealand and Australia. During a short work stint in Alice Springs in 2011, she became immersed in the beautiful Outback landscape. She developed an interest in indigenous health and an appreciation for the challenges, particularly relating to diabetes and the morbidity and mortality implications of its complications in the First Nations People.
Elna has played a role in developing the Endocrine service at Alice Springs Hospital, delivering its service to urban and remote communities, including by telehealth and outreach. She is also the clinical lead of one of the general medical teams.
