Aiyahna Browning

I was born and raised in rural Queensland before moving to Brisbane in 2022 to further explore my love of human behaviour through a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at the University of Queensland. Four years ago, at 15 years old, I experienced my first flare of IBD with the severity of my symptoms leading to a swift diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease. Subsequent to my diagnosis, I have been treated through regular infliximab infusions, supplemented by daily medications and am fortunate to have progressed into and maintained remission status for the past 3 years. My care has been led by gastroenterologists based at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane and delivered in partnership with my local public hospital in rural Queensland. My village extends from my small hometown community to Brisbane-based care teams and continues to grow with my involvement with CCA through advocacy and volunteer roles. The challenges I have faced with IBD have been significant and ongoing but have been softened by the unconditional and overwhelming support from my village
