Amit completed his higher specialist training in Paediatrics within the NHS in the UK, and sub-specialised in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition as an RCPHH Grid trainee from London. After coming to Australia, he initially worked as a full time Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne till the end of 2020, before moving to Perth where he is currently based. Besides his public appointment, he also has a busy private practice as a paediatric gastroenterologist. Apart from clinical work, he has a keen interest in teaching and has a postgraduate certificate in medical education from the UK; involved in multiple audits and research; and holds academic appointments in Australia and abroad. His particular passion lies in working with indigenous populations in resource limited settings globally, and has been a voluntary team member of multiple projects and medical/humanitarian camps in Africa and India, and hopes to continue with this in the future.
