Anne has been a senior staff specialist gastroenterologist at John Hunter Hospital and a conjoint professor at the University of Newcastle since 1999. Anne also has experience working in private practice and in research with publications including papers, book chapters and a co-authored book on the epidemiology of gastrointestinal diseases. She has a strong interest in safety and quality and equity of access to health care particularly in relation to gastroenterology has significant operating and leadership experience in a range of healthcare settings. Anne is Clinical Director Healthcare Variation at the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (The Commission) and led work on the development of a Clinical Care Standard for Colonoscopy in Australia which is now part of the National Safety and Quality Standards for the Accreditation of Hospitals and day surgeries in Australia. Anne was a member of the Working Party for the Revision of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Surveillance Colonoscopy (2019) and a chapter author. She is an ex-officio member of the MBS review Taskforce and chaired the MBS review Gastroenterology Clinical Committee. Anne is a currently secretary of GESA Board.
