Avik Majumdar

Avik Majumdar is a transplant hepatologist at Austin Health and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. Avik completed his gastroenterology training at the Alfred and Austin Hospitals before spending two years at the Royal Free Hospital in London as a fellow and then a consultant in liver transplantation. He then spent 5 years as a transplant hepatologist at the Australian National Liver Transplant Unit at Royal Prince Alfred, Sydney, before returning to the Austin in 2022. Avik has research interests in advanced liver disease, portal hypertension, liver transplantation, HCC and fatty liver disease and has published over 80 articles and book chapters in the field. He has contributed to national guidelines and currently sits on the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand council, GESA-Liver Faculty Executive, AGW scientific program committee, GESA-Liver Clinical Research Network Steering Committee, and is secretary of Melbourne Liver Group.
