Devanshi is an internationally known leader in the field of genetics of alcohol-associated liver disease (AALD) and was Treasurer of the international Research Society on Alcohol (RSA, USA). Her large multinational GenomALC Consortium clinical study funded by NIH (USA) (2011-2022), established world’s largest genotype-phenotype database of drinkers allowing breakthrough discoveries, identified novel risk alleles associated with cirrhosis and developed world’s first polygenic risk algorithm identifying drinkers at-risk of cirrhosis. She has over 85 publications in top hepatology and alcohol journals and >100 invited/peer reviewed presentations. Her work has attracted media coverage (print, radio, TV), nominations and prestigious awards. She was Finalist in the recent Australia India Science, Research & Development Award 2024 and 2021, Research Australia Health Services Award 2023, Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards ‘Science’ 2023. Devanshi is an active promoter of women in science, Chair, Centenary Inclusion Gender Equity Program, Franklin Women life member, Peer Advisory Committee and Mentor, of the Science Australia Gender Equity-Self Assessment Team member, and RSA Diversity Committee, USA member and mentor.
