Gerald Holtmann is the Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Queensland. He has extensive clinical training and experience in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Hepatology. He also completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, which gave him a comprehensive understanding of clinical practice in different healthcare systems.Gerald has an MBA from Adelaide and has served on the boards of various healthcare organizations, including hospitals and charities. He is currently on the board of directors of the Gastro-Liga, an overseas organization that focuses on patient education and raising awareness about gastrointestinal diseases. He is also involved in generating evidence to support appropriate clinical practices and secure funding for necessary services.His research interests are centred in the field of Neurogastroenterology and Motility, where he has published over 300 papers. He has developed and implemented innovative models of care and established dedicated positions for training and mentoring in this field. He has also played a significant role in developing the Queensland Quality Framework for Colonoscopy and improving procedural sedation practices.
