Graeme P Young, AM FTSE FAHMS AGAF, MB BS (University of Melbourne). After attaining Fellowship of the RACP (1978), he studied on a Fogarty International Fellowship (NIH) at Washington University, St Louis. He graduated MD in 1981, and in 1997 was appointed as the foundation Professor of Gastroenterology at Flinders University and Regional Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Southern Adelaide Health Service. In 2011, he became Professor of Global Gastrointestinal Health at Flinders University and was awarded the title of Mathew Flinders Distinguished Professor. In 2009 he received the GESA Distinguished Research Prize; in 2013, he was South Australian Scientist of the Year. In 2014, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). In 2017, he won the Australian Museum Eureka Prize for Innovation in Medical Research. He is now Matthew Flinders Distinguished Emeritus professor. He has an international reputation in prevention of colorectal cancer and colonic Health. He has over 400 publications addressing colorectal cancer screening test technologies and their improvement as well as their application in practice, plus papers addressing the importance of the colonic microbiomal function, how to manipulate it and how a healthy diet improves colonic health.
