Dr Richard Heddle
Dr Heddle graduated from University of Adelaide in 1978 and was an intern at RAH, then started physician training in 1979, mainly at Flinders Medical Cantre and Repatriation Hospital (Daw Park). He was awarded his FRACP in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in late 1984, and spent some years in research, mainly focusing of gastric physiology and in particular the function and regulation of the pyloric sphincter. He then travelled to Rochester, MN to do post-doctoral studies under the supervision of the late Keith Kelly. He returned to Adelaide in 1990 and has worked in both public and private sectors since then. Richard is currently the head of the oesophageal function laboratory where they are performing pharyngeal studies.
