Dr Astrid-Jane Williams is currently appointed as a Gastroenterologist in the Department of Medicine at St Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. She contributes to multi-disciplinary IBD care through her role at the IBD Centre of British Columbia. She is also appointed as a Faculty Member with the University of British Columbia. She was a Staff Specialist in the Gastroenterology Department at Liverpool Hospital from 2018 to 2024 and has continued her ongoing involvement in research projects as an Honorary Medical Officer as well as a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales. Dr Williams completed an IBD Clinical Fellowship and Masters of Health Science through the University of British Columbia in 2015-2017. Prior to this she was a Gastroenterology Advanced Trainee at Liverpool and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals in Sydney, New South Wales. Concurrently with her Gastroenterology Advanced Training she held the position of Senior Medical Registrar in 2012 at Liverpool Hospital. Preceding this, she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2007, with junior residency training occurring at the Alice Springs and Nambour Base Hospitals.Dr Williams has published in the fields of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Viral Hepatitis and General Gastroenterology. Her research and clinical endeavours are continuing within such fields, in particular in the delivery of IBD Pregnancy and Paediatric to Adult IBD Transition Services.
